June 29, 2015 - Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway

We had a late afternoon flight back to Houston, therefore, we decided to visit the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway which is a 19 miles stunning highway through towering walls and dense forest.  This road follows Spearfish Creek and has multiple waterfalls.  The first waterfall we encountered was Biddle Veils Fall.
The next fall we tried to visited was Spearfish Falls near the Spearfish Canyon Lodge. However, we could not find it.  Therefore we just went ahead to visit Roughneck Falls.  At first, we walked down the falls viewing area and only saw the top of the falls.  Quickly we noticed people were walking to the left side of the trail; and we followed and were able to see 2 other levels of viewing of the falls.  It was impressive.
Then we took Highway 385 to Highway 44 to Rapid City Airport.  On the way, we stopped by the Terry Peak Ski Area.  Terry Peak Ski Area is a small ski resort, however their price is very good which is only $48/day, almost half price in comparing with some of the Colorado ski resorts.  The last stop was a family camp ground at the Roubaix Lake.
The flight back to Houston was on time and uneventful.

This trip was short, but we all had a good time!  We believe it is a trip worth to recommend to others.
